The Broward Sheriff's Office was called to the scene of a fatal crash Friday evening.
It happened at Northwest 1st Avenue and Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach just before 8:30 p.m.
BSO said 32-year-old David Ramirez of Deerfield Beach was driving west on Hillsboro Blvd when, for unknown reasons, he left the road and hit a curb. His vehicle then drove onto the cernter median and hit a tree.
A group of witnesses noticed the engine of the car was on fire after the crash, and pulled Ramirez out of the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames.
Fire Rescue attempted life-saving measures, but Ramirez died at the scene. He had not been wearing a seatbelt, BSO said.
Homicide detectives said the crash was under investigation.
