BSO Looking for Shooter of North Lauderdale Bar Patron

A man bumping into another man at a North Lauderdale sports bar turned into a brawl and ended with one person shot in the back, and the entire chain of events was captured on surveillance video.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said the shooting victim, Terrance McClendon, 41, bumped into the shooter and his accomplice inside the Player’s Sports Bar and Grill.

“Our victim was at the bar, he stepped back to make room for people to walk through and when he did that, he bumped into two men,” said Gina Carter of the BSO. “They had words, the words quickly turned to violence.”

A fight broke out and surveillance video showed one of the men putting McClendon into a headlock and pulling him through the bar. Security guards escorted the alleged shooter and his accomplice out of the bar.

But the violence that night wasn’t over. When McClendon exited the bar, video shows a man holding a gun chasing him into the parking lot and then shooting him in the back. McClendon ended up face down with a gunshot wound as the shooter got into a car and drove off.

“He ran him down and shot him in cold blood in the back,” said McClendon’s cousin Damian Edwards.

Edwards wasn’t with McCelndon the night of the shooting, but said his cousin is recuperating with “a lot of support from the family.” Edwards said it was a miracle that McClendon survived the shooting.

"Clearly the guy didn't care who he was hitting, he was shooting in the middle of a parking lot," Edwards said.

BSO said the shooter was seen on the video in a shirt that had the word Brooklyn across the front and his alleged accomplice is right behind him in the picture. According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the car was a silver, new model, two-door sports car, possibly a Cadillac.

If you have any information about the shooting, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
