SEE: Ultrasound of Baby Gorilla Expected at Busch Gardens

A baby western lowland gorilla is expected at Busch Gardens.

A new baby gorilla is expected at Busch Gardens at the end of this year.

The mother, 11-year-old Pele, is currently eight-and-a-half months pregnant.

Pele arrived at Busch Gardens in February 2010 from Gladys Porter Zoo located in Texas. Busch Gardens officials say the pregnancy is part of the park’s participation with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Park visitors can see Pele at the Myombe Reserve until she gives birth.

Pele is a western lowland gorilla and is an endangered species. She is expected to give birth in December.
