Baby Injured in Altercation at South Miami-Dade Daycare: Police

His uncle dropped him after being pushed by another man, police said

A 2-month-old baby was injured when he was dropped during an altercation at a south Miami-Dade daycare Monday, police said.

The baby boy received some injuries but was expected to be OK, Miami-Dade Police said. He was taken by a helicopter to Miami Children’s Hospital as a precaution for treatment.

His uncle who was carrying him fell after he was pushed by another man, according to police.

Police said the incident began when the uncle went to Wiz Kidz Learning 2, at 9934 W. Hibiscus St., to pick up his nephew.

He encountered his ex-girlfriend and they got into an argument, and her current boyfriend got involved in the altercation, police said.

At some point, the current boyfriend pushed the ex-boyfriend – who was carrying the baby – and he fell to the ground, according to police.

The mother and the current boyfriend were taken to the police department and charges are pending, according to police.

The uncle was detained by police and spoke with them, but he was later let go.
