‘Back Without A Bang' Anti-Violence Youth Rally at Jungle Island

Miami-Dade County Public Schools students along with Do The Right Thing will participate in the “Back Without A Bang" anti-violence youth rally Friday at Jungle island.

During the rally, students will take a stand against violence by signing a pledge card, which will be sent to the Florida Governor. Students will also get to interact with some of the world’s rarest animals.

The event will take place at Jungle Island, which is located at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

The rally was created by the Do The Right Thing Program in response to the Columbine school shooting in 1999 and to address the ever-increasing, national problem of school violence and other forms of violence including domestic violence.

All participating students will engage in a hands-on, multi-sensory journey around the 18-acre park. Youth will have the opportunity to connect with nature and wildlife including some of the world’s most rare critters, such as lemurs from Madagascar, Australian red kangaroos and giant Aldabra tortoises from the Seychelles Islands, and also see three entertaining animal shows.

Several schools will perform their own anti-violence presentations including poems, raps and other expressions against violence.
