Free Back to School Resources for Families and Students

As students across South Florida prepare to put away the swimsuits and flip flops and head back into the classroom, families are looking for ways to help boost their child's academic development. 

Thankfully, there are a number of completely FREE resources available to help families achieve this goal! From one-on-one tutoring, summaries of popular books, including the classics, as well as study guides for everything from Algebra to Zoology, there is so much available to help give your student the tools they need to succeed in school.

Here is a listing of free academic help available online:

Miami-Dade Public Library: Free online tutoring and access to video courses and academic computer programs. Many programs require a Miami-Dade Library Card to access. For more information, click here.

Broward County Public Library: Free face-to-face tutoring and after school academic programs, SAT and ACT prep classes and access to video courses and academic computer programs. For more information, click here.  

KhanAcademy.com: This online library provides thousands of video tutorials in math, science and other subjects as well as SAT tutorials and practice tests. Visit them on the web.

NBC News Parent Toolkit: Site is designed to help parents navigate their child’s journey from Pre-K to high school. Growth charts help families track and support their child’s health, emotional development and academic progress.
