According to a BSO report, 48-year-old Reginaldo Azevedo was arrested for drug possession and tampering with physical evidence.

A witness told police they had seen a man pick up one of the bricks of marijuana and walk away from the scene, the report said.

An officer with Sea Ranch Lakes Police spotted Azevedo walking in the area with a package under his arm, and when the officer told him to stop, Azevedo looked back then started running north on the beach, the report said.

The officer saw Azevedo toss the package into the sand dunes then start doing exercises, the report said.

When the officer asked Azevedo whether he had a package under his arm, Azevedo replied "yes is right over there," the report said.

Authorities are investigating the incident, Coleman-Wright said.
