Authorities are calling him the "Old Man Bandit" for allegedly robbing banks all across South Florida for at least the last five years.

Police said 55-year old Steven Gass, of Miami Springs, robbed some of the biggest banks in the biz, from Wachovia to Bank of America and Citibank.

In fact, 16 law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, were all trying to locate Gass before he was finally arrested by FBI agents on Tuesday afternoon outside a Miami Springs restaurant. He's charged with two counts of robbery now, but officials say more charges could be filed.

A number of police departments released compilations of the bank robbery surveillance videos and photographs of robberies that had recently occurred in the tri-county area. A tip came in that identified the robber as Gass and he was positively identified by tellers at one of the Bank of Americas that he allegedly robbed.

Wednesday morning no one answered the door at Cass's home on South Drive, but neighbors were shocked that they've been living next to the so-called "Old Man Bandit" all this time.

"You're always surprised, but then I'm not surprised either because today, you just don't know your neighbors," Pat Iannaci, who lives two doors down from Gass, said.

"I'm glad they got him. Glad he's off the street."
