Big Second Half Lifts Heat Over Nets

The Heat came from behind with a big second half to beat the Nets on Tuesday

The Miami Heat trailed at the half before beating the Brooklyn Nets 121-100 on Tuesday at American Airlines Arena.

When the teams headed into the locker room at halftime, Brooklyn held a four-point lead. That all changed in a hurry when Miami outscored Brooklyn by 21 points in the third quarter alone. The Heat would continue to add on in the fourth quarter.

The Heat are now 2-1 in the preseason and kept it close in their one defeat. Miami has received strong consistent production from Hassan Whiteside in all three games, as well as several other players. The Heat have been playing good team basketball and have given positive signs for the regular season.

Whiteside led the way with 21 points and 14 rebounds. The center also added four blocks, a steal and an assist. Whiteside had been working on his assists during the off-season and now has continued that in the preseason. Whiteside was also solid from the free-throw line with a 3-4 day.

Goran Dragic has been enjoying a terrific preseason as well and added to that in this one. Dragic had 17 points and 11 assists in is 29 minutes on the court.

Wayne Ellington made a start for the Heat at shooting guard and played well. Tying for the team-lead in minutes played with 29, Ellington chipped in 14 points and was 4-8 from behind the three-point line.

Miami's preseason will continue on Friday in San Antonio with a game against the Spurs at 8:30 p.m.
