Bill Would Force Students to Watch Conservative Movie

A pair of Republican state lawmakers have proposed bill to require Florida students watch a movie by conservative commentator and convict Dinesh D’Souza twice before they graduate, according to the News-Press of Fort Myers.

Republican Senator Alan Hays and Representative Neil Combee introduced the bills in both houses of the Florida legislature. The News-Press reported that there is an option for parents to opt-out of the screening of the movie.

Showing D’Souza’s movie, “America: Imagine the World Without Her,” would be to combat what Hays and Combee see as “lies” and “anti-American” content of history classes in schools, according to the news-press..

D’Souza’s other most famous movie, “2016: Obama’s America” received widespread praise among the conservative base and ended up grossing more than $33.4 million.

D’Souza is also a frequent contributor to Fox News and this week drew the ire of Fox anchor Megyn Kelly when he argued that Obama “hasn’t actually had the African-American experience.”
