Dead Body Found Swinging in Backyard Hammock

The deceased showed signs of trauma about the body, according to Hollywood police

Three people renting a home in Hollywood made a very bizarre and grisly discovery Saturday: that of a dead man swinging in a hammock in their backyard on Taft Street.

An autopsy will be performed today on the remains of a Hispanic man in his 40s that the residents recognized as a neighborhood handyman who was occassionally homeless.

They sometimes allowed the man to sleep in their hammock, but Hollywood police believe something Friday night was very unlike the others: a spokesman said there were "signs of trauma" about the body, though the exact cause of death was not immediately appparent.

Authorities have not released the name of the deceased pending the notification of relatives.
