Body Found Outside Laundromat in Little Havana

Police are investigating after a body was found Friday morning outside a laundromat in Little Havana.

A patron of the Laundromart at 1277 NW 7th Street called police around 7 a.m. to report a deceased male. Police started canvassing the area for witnesses.

Laundromart customers told NBC 6 that the victim was a homeless man in his mid to late 40s who lived under the 836 bridge near the courthouse. They said the man would come to the 24-hour laundromat once a month to get his social security check money from an ATM.

Miami Police Detective Frederica Burden said that, while it is still early in the investigation, there are signs of possible foul play. A cause of death was not immediately known.

"We do have signs of trauma, so we are investigating as we speak," Burden said.

Homicide investigators have no known motive at this time.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Miami Police Department's Homicide Unit at (305) 603-6350, or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
