Body Found in Water in Davie: Officials

Officials confirmed a body was found at SW 14th Street and 121 Avenue in Davie

Authorities said a body was found in Davie in a canal along SW 14th Street and SW 121st Avenue Thursday afternoon.

The victim, a white or Hispanic male, was found floating in water by South Florida Water Management District workers. The body had a plastic bag over his head that was secured with tape, Davie Police said.

They said they are investigating the case as a homicide.

“We’re interviewing neighbors in the area to see if anybody’s seen anything suspicious, and we’re checking the area for any clues that may lead us to the identity of this person," Capt. Dale Engle said.

He said it looked like the body had been there for awhile.

Also on Thursday, human skeletal remains were found by two hikers in Coconut Creek, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

The hikers were on a remote trail deep within Tradewinds Park South when they discovered the fully clothed remains of the victim, who appeared to be a woman, Coconut Creek Police Chief Michael Mann told the paper. He estimated those remains had been in that location for several months.
