Pedestrian Struck by Two Hit-and-Run Drivers in Oakland Park

A body was found in the middle of the road Saturday in Oakland Park and now police are working to find out how it got there.

According to officials, the body was found at around 4:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of West Oakland Park Blvd.

Officials responded and pronounced the man dead on the scene.

Officials said the victim was crossing the street in the designated crosswalk from north to south. He then entered the eastbound lanes and walked north, where he stood near a median.

That's when, police said, a vehicle traveling westbound struck the pedestrian.

The driver then fled the scene. The victim was then hit a second time by a Honda Civic. That driver also left the scene. They were eventually located by police officials and are cooperating with the investigation.

Detectives believe the first vehicle that struck the pedestrian is a Mazda 6 sedan made between 2009 and 2011.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
