Police are searching for a man who stole cases of liquor from a Miami store at knifepoint, after his alleged getaway driver was arrested.
The robbery happened Monday night at Jensen's Liquors on Southwest 27th Avenue when the suspect, posing as a customer, loaded a shopping cart with the cases of liquor and passed the store clerk without paying, Miami Police said.
The man threatened the clerk and pointed a knife at him while demanding he open the locked front door, police said. The robber loaded the stolen liquor into a waiting car and fled the scene with a driver, police said.
Police said the value of the stolen liquor was about $1,700.
The getaway driver, identified as 31-year-old Antoinette Burnes, was later arrested and the stolen car they used was recovered, police said.
Detectives are still searching for the suspect, who is about 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9, 140 to 150 pounds with a full beard and was wearing a back support brace. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
