Brenda Dulcos: not in the running for mother of the year.
A drunk mom with two toddlers in the back of her minivan was busted for a DUI in Cooper City last night after she passed out behind the wheel with her car running in the driveway, police said.
Brenda Dulcos, 44, was charged with the DUI and negligence after her children, a 3-year old and a 4-year old, were found wandering nearly two miles from their home, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Hours earlier, a drunken Dulcos had fallen asleep behind the wheel of her 1999 Ford Windstar as it sat in the driveway with the ignition on.
Police found her shortly before 6 p.m., when she was arrested.
Appearing in court today, a tearful Dulcos, who has no prior DUIs on her record, was told she would not be allowed to drink or drive children when released.
"Your children were found two miles away from you passed out in the driveway and if that is not a danger to your children then I don't know what is ma'am, short of having a loaded gun with them, I don't know what's any more dangerous," Broward Judge John Hurley said.
As of this afternoon, Dulcos was being held on $4,500 bond.
