Bosh Receives Get Well Wishes, Makes First Comments Since Blood Clots

Chris Bosh received a welcome surprise from the Heat and then spoke to the media on Monday

The Miami Heat surprised Chris Bosh on Monday with 10,000 get well cards from fans on a day he also spoke to the media.

Bosh will miss the rest of the year for Miami due to blood clots in his lungs and his comments to the media were the first since he was shut down for the year. Bosh looked like he was in good spirits while fielding several questions.

When Bosh was asked whether he was scared by the diagnosis, the star responded in a way that may surprise many.

"I don't know why. It just didn't come as a scary thing at the time," Bosh answered.

A reporter then asked Bosh if he he played with the blood clots in his lungs. After Bosh responded that he believes he did, the All-Star was asked how he managed to do that.

"I just wanted to play ball and help the team win... some days were rough, some were not," Bosh replied and said he did not want to add to what was already a tumultuous season for Miami.

Bosh was asked how he felt about being back around the team. After clarifying that he had yet to meet Goran Dragic or Henry Walker, Bosh made it clear that he was happy to be at the arena.

"I'm just happy to be back. I'm happy to be here, see the fellas. I'm just glad to be back where I belong," Bosh said.

Earlier in the day, the Heat released a statement in regards to Bosh's status.

"Chris Bosh will be re-evaluated this month, and if cleared, may begin regular exercise at that time with plans to start strength training next month. He is scheduled to resume full basketball activities in September," the team stated.

The get well cards were part of a campaign started by the Heat. In addition to the hashtag #GetWellCB, fans were able to send their thoughts and well wishes to Bosh. The cards were delivered to Bosh's home by the Heat dancers and some members of Miami's staff.

Bosh posted an image from the surprise visit on his personal Instagram account and also shared his appreciation on Twitter.

Along with the cards were multiple giant poster boards that were signed by hundreds of well wishers. The boards had been available to fans at the arena following the announcement of Bosh's illness.
