Boyfriend Charged With Killing Lover's Toddler

Ronald Deliard is charged with beating his girlfriend's daughter to death

A bitter text message exchange between two lovers has led to the arrest of a man accused of killing a 22-month-old girl.

Ronald Deliard, 22, has been charged with first-degree murder for the Sept. 4 death of Jamisa Poitier, his girlfriends young daughter.

Broward Sheriff's Office investigators said Deliard and the child's mother had been arguing all night because Jamisa's biological father was just released from prison and wanted to see the baby.

In one text message sent from Deliard's phone to Shari Morris, the child's mother, the angry boyfriend alleged wrote, "I ain't her daddy."

Moments later, the little girl was dead.

Detectives believe Deliard killed the girl sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., when the while he was home alone with Jamisa and the mother was out at a convenience store. No one noticed the toddler was dead until early the next morning, when Jamisa was found bloodied and missing teeth by her 6-year-old sibling.

An autopsy concluded Jamisa died from blunt force trauma and that led BSO to arrest Deliard.
