A man and his sister are dead after a murder-suicide on Fort Lauderdale beach Wednesday afternoon.
At around 1:30 p.m., 23-year-old Juan Alicea Orozco pulled the gun in front of a cigar shop at The Gallery at Beach Place, one of the busiest tourist destinations on the beach, where the man's mother works.
Police said Orozco and his 25-year-old sister, Jesnishia Alicea, had been discussing money matters when gunshots rang out.
Several people were seen consoling the mother as she watched paramedics rush her children off to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
According to court papers uncovered by the Sun-Sentinel, Orozco was facing eviction and he was involved in two child support disputes.
