A Broward County bus driver has been suspended and demoted after dragging a teenager about 100 feet in Pompano Beach in Florida last month, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Reinaldo Soto, 55, was suspended without pay for 15 days and demoted from bus operator to coach service attendant to clean and service buses, the newspaper reported.

Jerry Cunningham, 14, fell under the bus after his arm got caught in the door on May 10 in the 1200 block of E. Sample Road. The middle schooler had been running to catch the bus and jumped on the exterior when he caught up to it. Witnesses said he held on for a minute before he fell off and was run over.

The teen suffered a traumatic brain injury and remains in stable condition, but has not regained consciousness.

Soto was placed on administrative leave following the incident.
