The Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County has set up a fund to help raise money for Broward Sheriff's Office Deputy Daniel Rivera, 32, who was critically injured in a single-car crash on Interstate 95 early Wednesday.

Rivera is being treated at Broward Health North, where he underwent a five-hour brain surgery Wednesday night. He remains in critical condition, the BSO said Friday.

The “Deputy Daniel Rivera Fund” will help the family with immediate expenses. All donations are 100 percent tax deductible.

The fund is being overseen by the Sheriff's Foundation of Broward County, a nonprofit organization that is independent of the BSO.

Rivera is a 10-year law enforcement veteran who started with the agency in 2003 as a deputy in the Department of Detention, according to the BSO. He moved to the Department of Law Enforcement in May 2012.

It's unknown what caused the crash which happened around 6:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95 just north of Atlantic Boulevard near Copans Road on Wednesday.

Rivera was on his way to work and was getting off at an exit when the crash happened, the BSO said.

Footage showed the deputy's car wrapped around a palm tree just off the highway.

Officials said Rivera was taken as a trauma alert with life-threatening injuries to the hospital.

Donations to the fund can be made by clicking here, or by mailing a check to Sheriff’s Foundation of Broward County, 2601 West Broward Boulevard, Suite 4001 Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. Officials said to indicate “Deputy Daniel Rivera Fund” in the memo line.
