A Broward Sheriff's deputy has been arrested for the sexual battery of an underage teen, officials said.
Leon Andrae Campbell, 37, was arrested Thursday on one count of sexual battery on a victim 16 or 17 years of age and one count of promoting the sexual activity of a victim less than 16 years old, Lauderhill Police said.
BSO officials said Campbell will be suspended without pay.
"Deputy Leon Campbell‘s actions are a reflection of himself and not the hard-working, dedicated men and women of the Broward Sheriff’s Office," Broward Sheriff Scott Israel said in a statement Friday.
According to an arrest affidavit, the allegations against the deputy date back to February of 2015.
The arrest affidavit includes a statement from the teenage victim’s biological grandmother, who said she saw Campbell inappropriately touching her teenage granddaughter.
The affidavit said the teen admitted that she and Campbell were in a sexual relationship for about two years, beginning shortly after her 15th birthday.

Campbell was booked into jail and had been held on $15,000 bond Friday morning. He refused to speak with reporters as he left jail after posting bond.
