A Miami Beach man was caught on a home security camera before breaking into a home Wednesday – and now police hope that those images can help them catch their alleged burglar.
Officials released video taken from a surveillance system placed inside the doorbell of the home off West 51st Street around 10:30 a.m. The man can be seen holding a newspaper up to the camera in an attempt to hide his identity.
After removing the camera, police say the man opened a side door and went inside – stealing jewelry from the home’s master bedroom before leaving.
One day before, officers say the same man came to the home and approached the front door before noticing the camera and taking off.
The suspect was wearing a dark hat, glasses, with a long sleeve shirt and pants. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami Beach Police or Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers.
