“Burn a Quran” Pastor Gets a New Car

NJ Hyundai dealer honors promise to Gainesville's Terry Jones

The New Jersey car dealer who promised Florida pastor Terry Jones a car if he called off his planned Sept. 11 "Burn a Quran" day is about to make good on his promise.

Jones is going to Brad Benson's Mitsubishi Hyundai in South Brunswick Friday to collect his vehicle, a 20111 Hyundai Accent.

Benson had made the offer during a radio commercial, and when the much-publicized book burning went up in smoke, Jones decided to take him up on his offer.

The grey Accent was adorned with removable peace stickers when Jones arrived to collect his wheels.

Jones said he didn't cancel the burning at his Dove Outreach Center in Gainesville to get the free ride, and that he'd be donating the $13,000 Accent to an organization that helps abused women.

Benson had questioned whether to give Jones the car but after receiving an overwhelming amount of feedback in favor of making the car gift, he decided to honor his promise.
