Car Burglar Busted by Pantsless Man

Car owner in skivvies nabs teen who broke into truck

No professional car burglar likes to be caught with his pants down, but what about getting busted by a guy with his pants down?

That's exactly what happened Thursday morning when a Fort Myers man spotted a teen rummaging through his SUV in the middle of the night, according to WBBH.

The only problem for car owner Hank Free: it was 2 a.m., and he was only wearing underwear.

"I remembered that I didn't check my locks on my truck door," said Free, who said he spotted 19-year-old Austin Lee Yeomans in the car. "I walked around here and said, "'Hey! What are you doing in my car?'"

Free said Yeomans tried to apologize and begged for him to let him go, then tried to get away. Though he didn't have pants, Free somehow was carrying a knife.

"He tried to get out and I pushed him in the truck. I kind of hit him a little bit," said Free. "I said, ‘You're not going anywhere,' and I grabbed the little knife and I held it to him."

At that point Free was able to lean over Yeomans and honk the car horn until a neighbor came out and asked if he was alright.

"I said, ‘No. Please call the police and please call my wife and tell her to bring me some pants,'" said Free.

Yeomans, who lives down the street from Free, was arrested. Police found gloves, a black hat, and a small bag of tool on him. He was later charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and petit theft.
