A man accused of burglarizing a car was identified by the vehicle's owner after he saw him wearing his stolen sneakers, authorities said.
Manuel Argomaniz, 18, was passed out in a walkway when the car's owner saw him wearing a pair of blue Nike high tops with red shoe laces that had been left in the car, the Monroe County Sheriff's Officer said Friday.
The man woke Argomaniz up and asked him his shoe size. He appeared to be disoriented and said he was a size 11, authorities said. The man asked Argomaniz to take the shoes off so he could look at them and they were a size 13, which was victim's shoe size, authorities said.
When authorities started investigating, they found several more people who said their cars had been burglarized overnight. Property missing from six cars include a radar detector, prescritpion medication and a computer flash drive.
Argomaniz gave a false name to authorities who arrested him. He faces charges of burglary and giving a false name to a law enforcement officer. More charges are pending.
It wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.
