Car Slams Into Miami House: Police

A Miami couple got a rude awakening in the overnight hours Wednesday after a car slammed into their home as they slept.

Firefighters had to cut the metal framing of the door of the house, located at Fifth Terrace and Southwest 57th Avenue in the city of Miami, in order to free the man and woman who became stuck inside after the crash.

According to police, a motorist was driving recklessly along Southwest 57th Avenue when he slammed into the house around 3:30 a.m. The loud bang woke up the sleeping couple. The homeowners are shaken, but not injured.

The driver meanwhile was taken from the scene in the back of a police squad car. It is not yet known if the driver will face any charges.
