Careless Fast Food Crooks Leave Cash Behind

Robbers target North Miami Beach Wendy's, leave loot behind

Police are looking for a pair of careless armed crooks who left behind bundles of cash after they ripped off a North Miami Beach Wendy's restaurant early Friday.

The incident happened around 1:15 a.m. at the fast food stop at 25 Northeast 167th Street, when the masked robbers ambushed an employee as he was throwing out some trash, police said.

"They basically shoved a gun in his back and forced him back inside the store where there was also three other employees," said North Miami Beach Police Detective Armando Sotero.

The stunned employees were all forced at gunpoint into an office, where the thieves demanded they open a safe.

About $650 dollars was taken from the restaurant, but the robbers got a little sloppy as they made their getaway.

"While they were running out of the store, they dropped several money packets, which are being processed by our crime scene investigations," said Sotero.

Police said the thieves were dressed in all black and are asking anyone with information to call the North Miami Beach Police Department at 305-949-5500.
