Chainsaw-Wielding Spider-Man Social Media Hero Of Hurricane Irma

Clutching a chainsaw and standing on a fallen tree like a real-life action hero, a man dressed as Spider-Man is going viral on social media in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

The photos are bringing some much-needed comic relief to an otherwise devastating situation, as the state of Florida reels from damage caused by the massive storm. The viral Facebook post, which was posted on Sept. 11 from Bradenton, has been shared more than 700 times as of Wednesday afternoon.

“Floridians have [an] unusual sense of humor…” one commenter said.

It is unknown who the mystery hero is, but the chainsaw-wielding Spider-man has gained several fans online. And for anyone wondering whether the photos are doctored, the person who posted the images – Cheryl Hanbury – assures viewers the pictures are authentic.

“Just snapped with iPhone, totally original, no photo shopping & no it’s not my husband lol,” the post read.

Cheryl's husband, Alan, took the photos outside of their home in Bradenton. Cheryl was utterly surprised at the sight.

"My first thought when I walked out my front door and spotted him next door was, "Is that Spider-man?!" I could not believe it," she said.
