Chen Serves Up Two More Home Runs in Marlins' Loss to Cardinals

Wei-Yin Chen allowed two home runs in Miami's 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday

The Miami Marlins fell to the St. Louis Cardinals by a final score of 3-0 on Sunday in Jupiter.

Wei-Yin Chen allowed a pair of home runs in the loss and he now has given up six homers in the spring. Chen has allowed two home runs in each of the last three games that he has pitched in. The home run ball is something that has given Chen trouble in his career.

Overall Chen allowed seven hits in five innings and was charged with the loss. The lefty has a 3.38 E.R.A in the spring and will begin the year as the fourth pitcher in Miami's rotation.

Junichi Tazawa was the first Miami reliever out of the bullpen and he continued his exceptional spring. Tazawa went one perfect inning with a strikeout and he has yet to allow an earned run in the Grapefruit League.

David Phelps also continued his fine spring with an inning of scoreless relief. Phelps has a 1.80 E.R.A in the spring and should once again hold a big role in Miami's bullpen.

The Marlins scattered eight hits in the loss, with only one going for extra bases. Giancarlo Stanton doubled for the second time this spring, as part of a 1-3 day.

The Marlins will host the New York Mets at Roger Dean Stadium on Monday at 1:05 p.m.
