Chicago Cubs Celebrate World Series Win at Disney World Orlando

Thrones of joyful Chicago Cubs Fans, many decked out in the traditional “Cubby blue” colored gear, lined Magic Kingdom’s Main Street parade route to cheer-on three members of the team who took part in the traditional “Going to Disney World” champions victory parade at the Walt Disney World resort in Orlando.

“It’s a great feeling to know that so many people follow you,” said Javier Baez. “Thanks guys and thanks Disney for having us.

The championship’s MVP, Ben Zobrist who previously played for the Tampa Bay Rays along with Floridians Addison Russell and Javier Baez all helped lead the Chicago Cubs to the world championship earlier this week rode along with Mickey Mouse in the celebratory parade at Walt Disney World Resort.

“There’s so many Chicago Cubs fans all over the world that have followed this team and stuck with the team and have been patient all these years waiting for this moment,” Zobrist said. “To finally get a chance to have this magical season and now we are standing at the Magic Kingdom this is unbelievable!”

Standing 3-1 in a best of 7 series against the Cleveland Indians, the Chicago Cubs rallied to tie the series reaching World Series victory in a nail-biting game 7.

The Walt Disney World Orlando champion’s parade was the perfect exclamation point to mark the Cubs’ World Series win since 1908.

“Thank you to all the fans, you guys are our MVP,” said Russell. “That parade was awesome and I’m glad that we are able to give back and unite the city (of Chicago).”

The players and their families also enjoyed some of the theme park’s signature attractions, including Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Plus they spent time hanging out with Mickey and Goofy.

“All the kids love Mickey and the fact that we get to share this experience with everyone has been awesome,” said Russell.
