A 7-year-old child died after being found unresponsive in the back of a vehicle, Margate Police announced Tuesday.

The child's mother was driving when she noticed that her child had become unresponsive in the back seat of the vehicle, police said in a statement.

She pulled into the Carolina Springs Shopping Center, located at 7804 W. Sample Road. Margate Police said they received a 911 call, and the mother waited for police and Margate Fire Rescue to arrive.

The child was taken to Northwest Medical Center and was later pronounced dead, police said.

They are still investigating the child's death.
