Coast Guard Hoists Sick Man From Cruise Ship Near Key West

A man is in stable condition in a Key West hospital after the United States Coast Guard safely hoisted him off a cruise ship.

The Coast Guard was notified Thursday after the 51-year-old man began experiencing severe chest pain while aboard the Carnival Ecstasy. The ship was some 250 miles southwest of Key West at the time.

Doctors recommended that the man should be taken to a hospital.

The Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater launched a MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter and the crew hoisted the man and took him to the hospital.
