Coast Guard Stops 71 Cuban Migrants at Sea in 5 Incidents

Most were repatriated to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba

The U.S. Coast Guard said Friday that it has stopped 71 Cuban migrants at sea in five incidents over the past nine days.

The lion’s share of the migrants, 66, were repatriated to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, while the other five were taken to the naval station at Guantánamo Bay “for further processing,” according to the Coast Guard.

All migrants taken on board a Coast Guard cutter are provided food, water, shelter and basic medical care.
