A South Florida commissioner wants to show love for the community after Valentine's Day.

Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz kicked off the "14 Days of Neighborly Love" initiative Monday morning in Sweetwater, which he hopes will inspire random acts of kindness.

From Feb. 14 through Feb. 27, several District 12 businesses will be providing free or discounted goods and services to residents.

Diaz began the effort to ensure "residents feel a little appreciation and goodwill beyond Feb. 14," the district said in a statement.

Diaz will be greeting residents at the Finish Line gas station in Sweetwater Monday, and he and several city mayors will be pumping gas for customers.

Participating businesses are in Doral, Medley, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Virginia Gardens and Sweetwater. For a full list of companies taking part in the initiative, please click here.
