Miami-Dade commissioners approved a $9 million budget in public funding for infrastructure around Skyrise Miami, a 1,000 foot tower to be built on land near Bayside Marketplace.
The project is estimated to be worth $430 million and the developer Jeffrey Berkowitz promises it will be funded privately.
The $9 million being asked from the county will be used for infrastructure around the tower.
Skyrise Miami was approved by voters in August, 68 percent to 32 percent margin with a long-term lease extension to the operators of Bayside Marketplace.
