Cop threatened woman with service pistol and powerful rifle

Disturbing details are coming out days after a veteran Miami-Dade police officer was arrested for domestic violence.

Sgt. Reinaldo Ruiz allegedly assaulted a woman he was dating because she didn't hold his hand at a Miami Heat game, the Miami Herald reports.

The incident occurred on March 27, ironically at a game the Heat won against the Houston Rockets at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Instead of celebrating the victory, Ruiz allegedly made the unnamed woman catch a cab back to his house in Southwest Ranches for not showing him a little public affection at the game, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

When the woman finally made it to the house, she was greeted by Ruiz, who was holding his semi-automatic service pistol. he allegedly chambered a round and paced as the woman packed her bags.

Ruiz then dumped the woman's luggage and knocked the phone out of her hand as she tried to call 911. Then the cop grabbed the woman by her hair and dragged her around the house, the arrest affadavit said.

When the woman finally broke free, she ran to a closet with a phone while Ruiz upgraded his weaponry and pulled out an AR-15 assault rifle, the report said.

He then allegedly threw the woman out of the house just before BSO deputies arrived.

Ruiz, 47, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

Miami-Dade Police said Ruiz has been relieved of duty with pay pending an investigation of the incident.
