A burglary attempt in Northwest Miami has led to a disturbing discovery and arrest of an alleged child sex offender.

Police arrested 29-year-old Edgar Giovanni Castillo yesterday, but they might never have gotten him if he hadn't tried to rob a woman two weeks ago.

According to Miami Police, Castillo attempted to rob a woman on Feb. 7, but the woman struggled with him. In the struggle, Castillo dropped his cell phone memory card.

When the robbery victim put the memory card into her phone, she was shocked at what she found: sexually explicit videos and photos of Castillo with children.

The woman called Miami police, who teamed up with Miami-Dade police SVU, Hialeah police and the U.S. Secret Service to find Castillo.

Miami Police hailed the robbery victim for coming forward.

"The photos inside that photo card helped [apprehend Castillo]," said Miami police spokesperson Kenia Reyes. "The photos were so explicit we can't even reveal the details."

Police believe there may be more victims out there are asking anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
