Cops Seek 'Dangerous' Sex Assault Suspect

Police say the man wanted for sexually assaulting a woman inside a Coral Springs medical office minutes before it went up in flames is extremely dangerous and likely used the fire to try to cover up his brutal crime. Coral Springs Police spokesman Lt. Joe McHugh spoke with NBC 6 about the perpetrator.

Coral Springs police plan to distribute more than 200 flyers Thursday offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest of a man wanted for sexually assaulting a female worker at a NW 33rd Street medical complex.

Authorities believe he fled the scene on foot, so they fanned out around the complex passing out the posters to nearby businesses.

Detectives said the man is about five feet, 11 inches, thin with dark hair and eyes and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

On Monday afternoon, police told NBC 6 the man barged into a first-floor medical office and demanded a female worker hand over all the prescription pills in the office. When she told him they had none, detectives said he chased her down, beat her and sexually assaulted her before choking her so hard she passed out.

Police said the fire broke out in the office shortly after the attack. Firefighters found the woman unconscious and rushed her to nearby Broward Health Coral Springs where she remains in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493 TIPS.
