Coral Gables 7-Eleven Robbed at Gunpoint: Police

Coral Gables Police are looking for a man who robbed a 7-Eleven store at gunpoint with the help of a getaway driver Thursday night.

The robbery happened just before 8 p.m. at the store at 3960 Southwest 8th Street when the armed man entered the store wearing a mask, police said.

Two clerks gave the robber all of the cash from their register and the man fled the scene with his getaway driver, police said. No one was injured in the robbery.

Police didn't have a description of the car but said the driver had very bushy eyebrows.

"This is a very rare occurrence for us to have an armed robbery, so detectives came out, they're interviewing the clerks to see if we can find any other information and we're asking to see if anybody at that time, if the public was driving by and saw a vehicle pull away with that driver that had the bushy eyebrows," Coral Gables Police spokeswoman Kelly Dunham said.

Customers and nearby residents said they are also surprised by the robbery.

“I think it’s pretty sad, especially that you're in Coral Gables and you wouldn’t expect that to happen in that area," 7-Eleven customer Nartina Schramm said. "Then again, things are not getting better. I think they're getting worse around here."

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
