A Coral Springs 2-year-old was found face down in a pool by his grandfather Friday and is now in critical condition. NBC 6's Dan Krauth reports. (Published Friday, May 30, 2014)

A Coral Springs 2-year-old was found face down in a pool by his grandfather Friday and is now in critical condition.

The child’s mother and father were at the hospital celebrating the birth of a baby Thursday night and the child’s grandfather was watching the 2-year-old and a 1-year-old cousin at a home on the 3100 block of NW 114th Lane.

Property records show that the home belongs to a Jenna and Sklyer Edwards, which was also the name on the mailbox in front of the home.

At some point, the grandfather turned around and found the 2-year-old face down in the pool that was surrounded by a safety gate.

The grandfather jumped in to save the child, but his cell phone was still in his pocket which left him unable to call 911. A neighbor called 911 for him and the child was taken to Coral Springs Medical Center in critical condition.
