Coral Springs Officer Claims Restaurant Employees Put Soap Inside Coffee During Recent Visit

A Coral Springs donut shop is coming under fire after one officer in the city is claiming employees put something in her coffee.

The city’s Fraternal Order of Police posted a message on their Facebook page saying that the officer went to the Dunkin’ Donuts off Wiles Road recently. When she ordered a coffee and took a sip, she noticed a strong taste of soap in it.

"She sat the coffee down on the counter and kind of looked at the officer and looked at the coffee and smirked again and walked away," FOP president Glen Matonok said.

The officer went back a second time days later, saying the same employees were working at the store. One of them reportedly pretended to spit in the coffee before handing it to the officer, the post claimed.

"The same employee from the day before came over and took the cup from him and she moved her mouth towards the cup and she made a motion like she was going to spit in the coffee," Matonok said.

The FOP claims the employee laughed about the incident with a co-worker before the officer left.

Officials reported the incident to the owner of the store, who said they are investigating the incident and will take action if it is proven to be true.

Dunkin' Donuts said they're taking the situation seriously and working with the restaurant owner to look into the matter.

"Dunkin' Donuts is nearly 100 percent franchised, and the Dunkin' Donuts restaurant in Coral Springs is independently owned and operated by a franchisee," the company said in a statement Thursday.
