    A Coral Springs teacher was being held in the Broward County Main Jail on $3,500 bond Friday night after he was arrested for emailing obscene material to a student, according to authorities. Coral Springs Police spokeswoman Sgt. Carla Kmiotek discussed the allegations against Warren Zilka, 43.

    A Coral Springs teacher was being held in the Broward County Main Jail on $3,500 bond Friday night after he was arrested for emailing obscene material to a student, according to authorities.

    Warren Zilka, 43, of the Imagine Middle School at Broward charter school sent more than 100 emails to a 14-year-old student, several of which had explicit material, Coral Springs Police said.

    The emails were sent from his school-issued computer to her Google account and contained sexual statements, questions and invitations, according to police. His former eighth-grade student came forward with the emails recently, police said.

    Zilka turned himself in and was arrested Friday and faces two felony charges for transmitting material harmful to a minor and the unlawful transmission of obscene material, officials said. No one answered the door at his house when NBC 6 went there Friday, and it wasn't immediately known whether he has an attorney.

    Zilka's picture no longer appears alongside those of other eighth-grade teachers on the school's website.
