Corrections Officer Charged with Domestic Battery

The corrections officer allegedly bruised his girlfriend, a report said

A Monroe County Sheriff's Office Corrections Officer was arrested Saturday for domestic battery, authorities said.

Celso Hernandez, 50, was hired in April 2002 as a corrections officer at the Plantation Key Detention Center.

According to a report, deputies responded to a call of domestic battery in progress and found the female victim with bruises on her arms. She told officials her boyfriend, Hernandez, had bruised her, the report said.

Hernandez told the deputies the pair was staying at a hotel in Key West when they got into an argument and the victim left the room, the report said. He said he then followed her and again got into an altercation, officials said.

A witness told deputies he saw Hernandez grab the victim by the arms and force her toward his motorcycle but that she was able to get away, the report said.

It was not immediately known if Hernandez had an attorney.
