Couple Finds Hidden Cameras in Florida Airbnb, Owner Arrested

The owner of a Florida condo was arrested after some Airbnb guests found hidden cameras that were secretly recording people in multiple rooms, and now police are looking for other possible victims.

Wayne Natt was arrested and charged with video voyeurism after the cameras were found in smoke detectors in his Longboat Key condo, WFLA reported.

Police say a couple from Indiana was staying at the condo when the man noticed something odd about the smoke detector above the bed in the master bedroom. When he opened up the smoke detector, he found a camera and a microphone inside. A similar smoke detector was found in the living room.

"We did have the opportunity to analyze what was on the SD card and there are a couple of different people on them," Longboat Key Police Lt. Robert Bourque said.

Natt lives in the condo when it's not rented out, and told police the cameras are for his personal use and are not activated when guests are present. Police said the cameras can be operated remotely and said they found numerous videos, including some that date back to 2008.

"I suspect there are other victims, it’s just a matter of identifying them or not," Bourque said.

Natt was released on bond but police said he could face more charges.

"We are outraged at the reports of what happened; as soon as we were made aware, we permanently banned this individual from our community and fully supported the affected guests," an Airbnb spokesman said in a statement. "Our team has reached out to local law enforcement to aid them with their investigation of this egregious offense and we hope justice is served. We take privacy issues extremely seriously and have a zero-tolerance policy against this behavior."
