Couple Found Unresponsive in Car With 2 Young Kids in Backseat: Miami Police

A mother and father who were found passed out in a car with two young children in the backseat have been charged, Miami Police officials said.

Police said they found the pair, who appeared unresponsive, inside a blue Honda in the area of Northwest 7th Avenue and 77th Street around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The children, who are a 2-month-old and a 2-year-old, appeared to be hungry and soiled, police said.

Police said the children were safe and were placed in Department of Children and Families custody.

The couple was taken in for questioning and alcohol testing, and were later charged with child neglect, police said.

They were identified as 35-year-old Carlos Roboyras-Rodrigues and 26-year-old Catherine Lobb.

According to an arrest report, Lobb woke up in a daze and didn't know where she was when officers banged on the car windows to wake the couple up.

Roboyras-Rodrigues was unsteady on his feet and disoriented, and said he fell asleep on the way to work, the report said.

During a hearing Wednesday, custody of both children was given to their aunt.
