Crane Collapses Onto North Miami Beach Apartment Building

A section of a North Miami Beach apartment complex was evacuated after a crane that was on a barge in a nearby canal collapsed into the building Sunday night.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. at the building at 3750 Northeast 170th Street. Officials believe the crane slipped off the barge that was holding it up when it started taking on water.

The crane damaged one unit, but no one was injured. The area of the building that was damaged was evacuated as the crane was still resting against a wall and roof.

Crews were working Monday to safely remove the crane from the building.
