Palmetto Re-Opens Following Crane Crash Into Overpass in Miami Gardens

Inspectors determined that the overpass is safe

State Road 826 at NW 27th Avenue re-opened just before 8 p.m. Friday after it was shut down when a crane hit the overpass below the highway, authorities said.

The crane was on a flatbed truck and as it went under the overpass, in a northbound lane of NW 27th Avenue.

Inspectors said they determined that the overpass itself is safe. But Florida Department of Transportation workers kept working into the evening as they made repairs to the underside of the overpass, where the crane came into contact with it.

Traffic was redirected in the area while the Palmetto Expressway was closed.
