Crappy Situation Floods Miami Beach Street

Residents are asked to hold in their waste while crews try to fix a sewer line break

A 36-inch sewer line pipe ruptured Wednesday morning at Harding Avenue and 71st Street, clogging traffic and creating quite a mess for crews to clean up.

The usually busy road has been closed, as the wastewater is still flowing from the pipe break, while crews try to fix the stinky situation.

It's unclear what caused the sewage line to rupture at just before 11 a.m., but people who witnessed the water bubble up in the intersection likened the scene to the end of the world.

Leave it to Miami Beach to turn sewage into a Biblical event.

Miami-Dade officials are asking local residents to hold in their waste and avoid flushing the toilet while they try to fix the problem, which could take a day.

The break does not affect drinking water, officials said.
