Critically Injured Parkland Shooting Victim Upgraded to Fair Condition

A Parkland shooting victim who was in critical condition has been upgraded to fair condition, according to hospital officials.

Following the attack, 15-year-old Madeline Wilford was placed on a respirator and was not responsive, doctors said. But on Friday evening, she turned a corner and is recovering well.

Overall, all patients who were hospitalized after the shooting are in fair condition, hospital officials said. Three patients are currently being treated at Broward Health North and the main campus in Fort Lauderdale.

“Our doctors, nurses and staff have worked tirelessly to save the lives of patients from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting,” said Dr. Igor Nichiporenko of Broward Health North. “To have positive news to share…helps ease the pain we and our community have experienced.”

President Trump tweeted a photo of him visiting Madeline Wilford hospital with the First Lady. In the photo, Madeline smiles at the camera as Trump, the First Lady and her family stand beside her.
